She is a member in good standing in CMA, BCMA, and APA and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada. In the last 20 years, Dr. Reddy has been deeply interested in understanding the factors which promote the birth of new brain cells or neurogenesis. She has incorporated and promotes the following factors in her treatment plan. These include exercise, maintenance of the sleep-wake cycle, treatment of underlying psychiatric disorders including medications, appropriate therapy for the disorder, treatment of medical disorders including pain and addiction management ,vitamin and mineral supplementation, if deficient, healthy Social relationships and meditation.
While researching various ways to help her patients, Dr. Reddy became interested in the role of facial expressions in the pathophysiology and treatment of mood disorders. It has been long appreciated that psychiatric disorders including depression stem from the brain. However, it is also known that negative emotions can lead to depression.
There are several studies demonstrating improvement in depressive symptoms using Botox to relax facial muscles especially in the glabellar (the area between the eyebrows) region. It supports the concept, that facial musculature not only expresses, but also regulates mood states.
Intrigued by the conception that mood is not only altered from the inside out but also from the outside to the inside of the body, Dr. Reddy became very interested in the field of medical aesthetics and became certified in administering Botox and Filler. She also became certified in Venus Legacy Laser device for skin tightening and body contouring in addition to the Environ Retail Certification.
The way an individual perceives him/herself can have a significant impact on mood. Dr. Reddy is not using medical aesthetics to treat psychiatric disorders. Rather, she sees medical aesthetics as a tool to promote wellness and help individuals to look and feel better.
